Covid-19 Micro Wedding | Hampstead, London
Emily and John had booked me for a big wedding with all the trimmings, but, as we all know, there’s been teensy issue of a global pandemic going on, so like a lot of other people, plans had to change! Rather than postpone or cancel their wedding altogether, Emily and John decided to save the big party for a time when we can all be in one room without staying two meters apart or wearing masks, and opted for an intimate, micro wedding to tie the knot this year,
Starting at St Luke’s Church in Kentish Town they invited just their immediate to the ceremony, and had some very beautiful and heartfelt readings, along with some live music in a handy perspex box (this year is a WEIRD year).
Post-ceremony they were greeted by friends who had turned up to surprise them and chuck confetti in their face outside. Once the elbow bumps and foot taps were complete, we motored up to Hampstead Heath in the wedding car to take some dreamy couple’s portraits, and some not so dreamy ones (no Covid-19 wedding is complete without a posed photo in matching masks). While we were off taking photos two of their guests decorated the wedding car with tin cans and a just married sign as a surprise. Driving through London with tin cans bouncing off the back of the car is certainly an experience, but I am a BIG fan of this tradition.
Although this wedding was tiny, it was no less beautiful and no less special, and the best part is, I get to do it all again with them again when they celebrate next year!
Scroll down to see the intimate ceremony, a confetti shot to die for, some socially distanced group shots and Hampstead Heath looking emptier than a pub during lockdown.
